NUM, litho, Johannesburg 1987

I drew the picture mineworkers for the exiled trade union federation SACTU in Lusaka, in 1984. It was printed as a sticker, and distributed inside South Africa through the emergent trade union structures. In 1987, when the National Union of Mineworkers went on a massive strike to demand a living wage, the image was reworked by graphic artists working with the unions inside South Africa to make the above poster.

Return to trade unions.
